Home to the world's largest collection of Lincoln-related documents, artifacts and books.
Combining scholarship and showmanship, the ABRAHAM LINCOLN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY & MUSEUM uses
twenty-first century technology to immerse visitors in a world of gas lamps and hoop skirts – Lincoln’s world. This
state-of-the-art facility was designed with exacting historical detail to provide a lifelike experience for visitors.
Open since April 2005, this thought-provoking and entertaining permanent exhibition presents the life of Abraham
Lincoln through a series of stories richly illustrated with personal memorabilia, fascinating documentary material
of the Lincoln family, and engaging interactive activities for children. You will be immersed in the sights and sounds
of the past and introduced to the people, places and events that shaped the life of our 16th president.
Unlike any museum in the United States, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum features hi-tech
exhibits, interactive displays, multimedia programs, as well as a reproduction of the White House as it looked in
1861. The holographic and special effects theatres will entertain, educate and mesmerize you with ghostly images,
live actors and high action. Witness the 1860 Presidential Election as though it were happening today, complete
with television news coverage and campaign commercials. View an original hand-written copy of the Gettysburg
Address, the evening gloves in President Lincoln’s pocket the night he was assassinated and the quill pen he used
to sign the Emancipation Proclamation.
In Mrs. Lincoln’s Attic, kids can play with a model of the Lincoln Home, try on period clothing, perform chores from
the 1800s, and play with reproduction historic toys. They can also have their photos taken with life-size models
of Abraham Lincoln as a boy and an adult, as well as with Mary Todd and the Lincoln children.
Both the Presidential Library and the Museum are excellent special event venues.
